ACTNews, JAKARTA – How far have we gone to greet our brothers? How willing are we to greet people across the globe?
This is not about immigration stamps on our passport. This is not about travel photo albums filling our computer. Since generally, we take trip across the border for the sake of our own happiness and entertainment.
It is written in our fate, that humans are born to be explorers. Allah said in Holy Quran Al-Jumuah (verse 10), “And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty of Allah, and remember Allah often that you may succeed.”
However, after miles traveled, hours spent to meet and talk with our brothers, have we ever felt moved to know more about the true meaning of joy that they receive?
It is not always about long travel. There is one simple worship that carries a universal delight. This worship is the second grandest celebration that Muslims hold across the world. In our country, this ritual is widely known as qurbani.
Indonesia Berqurban, Throughout Districts and States
It cannot be denied that the truest meaning of qurbani is to share contentment to its largest extent. Rini Maryani, President of Global Qurban, claimed that qurbani is a form of worship as well as empathy.
“In Islam, qurbani is one form of Islam’s perfection as rahmatan lil alamin. Qurbani brings a universal bliss for all of us. It is borderless, it knows no race or nation,” said Rini.
Counting from 2011, Global Qurban has stepped its sixth year in distributing qurbani and delivering happiness to places. Hundreds of districts treaded, countless countries visited. With no regards to distance, ethnicity, or skin color, Global Qurban is a bridge that keeps relations between people.
Livestock through gates and happiness through it all. Qurbani trails conflict-hit regions, greets poorer points in other time zones.
“As we get closer to Eid Al Adha 2017, we have noted that our distribution process is uniquely different. Since 2011, we have visited 3 continents. From Asia, Africa and Europe. In our country, Global Qurban has been distributed throughout hundreds of districts and cities, we have explored all 34 provinces. Channeling Muslims to perform their qurbani to those who need it most,” said Rini.
Last 2016, Global Qurban finished distributing qurbani to 31 countries. Target countries are those which still had escalating conflict and humanitarian disaster such as Syria, Palestine, Yemen, Myanmar and Somalia.
Beyond those war-torn countries, we also delivered qurbani to Lebanon, Turkey and Iraq in Middle East. In Asia, Global Qurban delivered qurbani to Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Cambodia, Kashmir, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Thailand, East Timor, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, and China.
Finally, in Africa, there were Cameroon, Kenya, Madagascar, Uganda, and Guinea Conakry. We also greeted Germany, a temporary shelter for million refugees.
Global Qurban did not stop there. Rini Maryani said Global Qurban would spread its scope to many more countries. “Insha Allah, this year, we will reach 40 countries, such as Chad, South Sudan, Nigeria, Mali, Mauritania, Sri Lanka and Jordan,” she closed.
