ACTNews, JAKARTA – It is very clear that when one offers an animal sacrifice, many benefits will be spread. In fact, not only bringing spiritual benefits to those who offer the sacrifice, but also social benefits to others. Through the ritual of animal sacrifice, there is a symbiosis between those who offer the sacrifice and the recipients who receive the qurbani meat.
Etymologically, qurbani is related to the Arabic word qa-ra-ba ‘to get close’, as qurbani is a way for us to get close to Allah. Terminologically, qurbani refers to the ritual of animal sacrifice performed on the day of Eid-ul-Adha and the three days afterwards. Therefore, qurbani should be a priority for Muslims.
“Sacrificing animals is one of the most loved good deeds by Allah. According to the Prophetic tradition, no deed is more virtuous on the day of sacrifice than flowing the blood of the sacrificial animals,” said ustaz Zulfikarullah, an Indonesian Muslim preacher, the chairman of Sahabat Iman as well as Sukses Mulia trainer and motivational speaker.
He further added that anyone who understands the virtue of qurbani shall do his or her best to perform it. For those who offer the sacrifice, Allah has promised immense rewards and vast forgiveness as the qurbani ritual also symbolize the slaughter of our own despicable nature.
For the recipients of the qurbani meat, the benefit of animal sacrifice is that they are able to celebrate the joy Eid-ul-Adha. “Moreover, it is a good way to strengthen the brotherhood between those who offer the sacrifice and those who receive the meat. Essentially, qurbani is the way of expressing our love for Allah, Prophet Muhammad, and his followers,” said Zulfikarullah.
In socio-economic aspect, performing animal sacrifice gives us a chance to spread goodness of qurbani on the day of Eid-ul-Adha. Zulfikarullah also hoped that there will be a chance to develop the economy of the society.
“With further innovations, the benefits of qurbani can be expanded, for example through Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT)’s waqf villages, and supporting programs for the livestock raisers, which canimprove the community’s wealth in a more comprehensive way,” he added.
Based on this noble principles, Global Qurban is striving to strengthen its commitments to expand its distribution locations. Not only by revisiting old places, but also trying to discover new places in different regions to visit our underprivileged brothers and sisters across Indonesia and the world.
