ACTNews, JAKARTA – The Jakmania is one of the most famous supporters’ groups among the soccer fans in Indonesia.
The Jakmania is the supporters’ group of Persija, the football club of Jakarta, nicknamed “The Tiger of Kemayoran”.
The Jakmania’s activities are not only those related to football. They also have a strong sense of philanthropy and care about social and humanitarian issues.
One of their recent activities related to the humanitarian cause is the club’s involvement in distributing qurbani to Palestine. On Tuesday (7/24), The Jakmania’s chairman, T. Ferry Indrasjarief, and his colleague Irlan went to Global Qurban – Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT)’s office. The aim of their visit is to donate a sum of money to buy a cow for Palestine.
According to Indrasjarief, the money came from the money collected by The Jakmania members, and was given directly to Global Qurban – ACT team.
“Why do we choose to channel our money through Global Qurban – ACT? Because Global Qurban – ACT is able to do qurbani in conflict-ridden countries whose people live under oppression, one of which is Palestine. This is one of the reasons that we took into consideration,” he said.
Indrasjarief is grateful that the people of Indonesia is a great people. According to him, the greatness of a country is not related to the number of its population or the size of its territory. Rather, the greatness of a country is related to its willingness to always remember, support, and care about others, wherever they might be, regardless of distance and other boundaries.
“I see that many of what ACT has done are very good. Honestly, I admire ACT’s efforts in getting into conflict areas to help the oppressed, such as Gaza Strip in Palestine, African countries, etc.” he said.
He added that qurbani is not merely an annual ritual. Qurbani can bring benefits to many people, including Muslims who are in need.
“I trust Global Qurban – ACT because of their excellent track record,” concluded Indrasjarief.
