ACTNews, SUMBAWA – Afternoon light beamed on Badas Harbor, Sumbawa Besar Regency, Nusa Tenggara Barat Province. People unloaded and unpacked goods from some berthed ships. However, there was something unusual on that Thursday (16/8) afternoon. Some volunteers from Global Qurban – Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) looked busy herding Sumbawa cows to hop onto Camara Nusantara 4 Ship.
On that ship, a banner was spread, spelling out “Qurbani Ship.” The ship was indeed crowned as Qurbani Ship, a frontline program from Global Qurban. The ship would carry approximately 300 Sumbawa cows to Jakarta.
Why Jakarta? Because in this city, another program from Global Qurban will be implemented. In collaboration with Jakarta government, Global Qurban will launch Qurbani Kitchen, themed “Everybody Happy to Enjoy.” The target is clear: the less-fortunate urban citizens and residents of Kepulauan Seribu, most of who hardly ever taste qurbani meat.
“May our second collaboration strengthen our effort in actualizing social equality for all Jakarta citizens. I express my gratitude to ACT friends who have prepared Dapur Qurban. This will be another vehicle that we can ride on in the long run,” Anies Baswedan, Governor of Jakarta, stated at the inauguration of Qurbani Kitchen, held at Balaikota Jakarta on Monday (13/8).
Social equality is the goal this program aims at. It should be admitted that Jakarta, the busiest city in Indonesia, still has many inequality and disparity issues, particularly for the lower-classes. Next to undaunted skyscrapers are tiny houses made of plywood and zinc sheets.
BPS (Central Statistics Bureau) Jakarta mentioned that poverty rate in Jakarta reached 3,78% as for September 2017, about 393.000 people. Based on another data analyzed by Jakarta Social Bureau, in the same year, there were 220 slum neighborhoods (RW) spread throughout Jakarta.
This is a problem that Jakarta government and Global Qurban seek to address. Dapur Qurban has a target in mind: to process 1.000 cows consisted of 300 Sumbawa cows and 600 cows from various stakeholders such as Jakarta civil servants. These civil servants are also invited to perform qurbani with Global Qurban.
Rini Maryani, President of Global Qurban, stated that Sumbawa cows were selected to strengthen brotherhood between Indonesians. In other hands, this program also aims at empowering Sumbawa livestock raisers.
“With Qurbani Ship, we will bring qurbani animals from regions in Indonesia that are rich with livestocks, to regions that are lacking. Thus, the need of qurban could be covered. Qurbani Ship will bring qurbani animals from Sumbawa to Java, including Jakarta. Also, from Seram Island to Papua. So the brotherhood is extended, just like the qurbani animals,” said Maryani.
Maryani further added, Qurbani Kitchen would be present at 43 points across Jakarta for 23-25 August 2018. Besides distributing qurbani meat to the people, on 23 August 2018, there will be feast at Qurbani Kitchen Jakarta with Mayor Anies Baswedan. Approximately 2.000 packages of qurbani meats will be served for the Mayor and the people.
“May the collaboration between us continues up in the future. With qurbani meats, together we share happiness for Jakarta people,” she concluded.
By Friday (8/12), it will be one day that Qurbani Ship sail Indonesian sea. The ship is also expected to arrive at Tanjung Priok Harbor, Jakarta, on Sunday (8/19). The ship will bring goodness and qurbani hope for impoverished communities in Jakarta. The ship, full of goodness, is expected by Jakarta people.
