ACTNews, NORTH LOMBOK – The day of Eid-ul-Adha is coming. Muslims around the world are celebrating it, including those in Lombok who had just been afflicted by earthquakes. In their evacuation camps, they prayed the Eid-ul-Adha prayer together.
Most of them admitted that they had no plan to perform qurbani. They lost their wealth. It’s difficult for them to fulfill basic needs, let alone to save money for qurbani.
That Wednesday (8/22) morning, however, they were able to savor the delicious qurbani meat as several of cows were ready to be sacrificed for the earthquake victims in Tanjung sub-district in North Lombok Regency.
On an open field close to an ACT humanitarian post in Tanjung, North Lombok, Global Qurban – ACT sacrificed 17 heads of cattle. Coordinator of Global Qurban, Kusmayadi, stated that the meat that has been cut up will then be distributed to ACT humanitarian posts in Tanjung.
“Alhamdulillah, earlier today we have sacrificed 17 cows for the people of Tanjung, North Lombok. The slaughter started right after Eid-ul-Adha prayer,” said Kusmayadi on Wednesday (8/22).
The carcasses of the animals that had just been slaughtered on Sigar Penjalin field were brought to each of the humanitarian posts. There, each of the carcasses were skinned and cut up. After that, the cuts of meat were brought to the qurbani kitchens to be cooked.
“We involved the locals in the evacuation posts, especially ladies, to cook the meat. They decided what dishes are to be made from the meat,” explained Kusmayadi.
Not only to kill the time in the evacuation post during the day of Eid-ul-Adha, the cooking process also aimed to alleviate their trauma and boredom. “We implemented the mandate from the people who want to share the happiness of qurbani to the people of Lombok. May it bring happiness to them on the day of Eid-ul-Adha,” said Kusmayadi.
Not only in Tanjung, North Lombok, Global Qurban also sacrificed a number of animals in several other ACT Humanitarian posts such as Gunung Sari, Gangga, ICS Gondang and Bayan post in North Lombok as well as humanitarian posts in Central Lombok.
“Insha Allah, Global Qurban will serve the people of Lombok until three days after Eid. We will continue to expand the distribution locations so that more people can savor the tasty qurbani meat,” Kusmayadi added.
