ACTNews, JAKARTA – Eid-ul-Adha is arriving in less than two months. Muslims around the world prepare for it in different ways according to their local customs and cultures; everyone is feeling joyful about it. It is a celebration of piety and sharing, the values that are embedded in each of Global Qurban’s works since its first inception.
Along the years, Global Qurban has spread the benefits of qurbani to every corner of the country and across the globe. In its first year, 2011, Global Qurban distributed 3.645 sacrificial animals for 175,400 beneficiaries in four contries. The number increases each year, reaching more beneficiaries each Eid-ul-Adha.
Last year, the blessings of qurbani reached more than three million lives in 40 countries, reaching victims of humanitarian crises to underprivileged families in remote areas. Not just Muslims, the qurbani meat was also savored by non-Muslim recipients in disaster-hit area. Last year, they all receive the blessings of the qurbani meat, in accordance to the Islamic principle of spreading mercy to all mankind.
What countries have Global Qurban visited in distributing the best Qurbani meat from Indonesia? Below is the summary of Global Qurban’s programs in several countries along the years.
Reaching Muslims in Asia
Indonesia is known as the country with the largest Muslim population. However, Muslims in Asia spread across many areas, reaching even to the steppes of Mongolia. From Indonesia to Central Asia, the qurbani meat packages have reached those who needed the most.
In Southeast Asia, Global Qurban reached not only areas in Indonesia, but also the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Many Muslims in these countries do not celebrate Eid-ul-Adha in the same festivity as Indonesians. Hence, they joyfully welcome the meat from the Global Qurban team.
In East Asia, Global Qurban visited Taiwan and the Uyghurs in China. In central Asia, Global Qurban distributed meat packages in Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. In these exotic places, Global Qurban team met those who are vulnerable to natural disasters.
In South Asia, Global Qurban visited Indian subcontinent and several other areas like Kashmir, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. In these multicultural countries, Muslims coexist with other religious communities peacefully. Unfortunately, they were afflicted by natural disasters, making them deprived of food. Poverty loomed amidst the growing tourism potential. For them, the meat packages from Global Qurban became the blessing
At the crossroad between Asia and Europe, Global Qurban reached to the Syrian refugees in Turkey. After years of conflict, haunted by trauma and loss, the qurbani meat packages could at least put smiles on their faces, bringing a glimpse of happiness that they used to have every Eid-ul-Adha.
Visiting war-torn countries in the Middle East
The blessings of Qurbani also reached the Middle East last year. Yemen, an area currently torn by civil war, afflicted by famine and cholera outbreak, could savor the delicious qurbani meat. The blessings of qurbani also reached Iraq, a country crippled by political instability.
Syria and Palestine, two countries afflicted by conflicts, also witnessed the generosity of the Indonesians. This generosity also reached the Syrian and Palestinian refugees throughout Jordan and Lebanon. The qurbani packages were delivered to makeshift tents, and houses without electricity nor clean water. The delicious meat could at least alleviate the sufferings of those who had lost their limbs, wealth and family members.
Across the barren land and political instability in Africa
The barrenness and political stability of Africa did not stop Global Qurban from reaching the continent. In East Africa, Global Qurban visited Madagascar, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Somalia, Sudan, and South Sudan. Global Qurban visited the shabby refugee tents, providing food for the malnourished children.
In Central Africa, Global Qurban visited Chad and Cameroon. In these two countries, Global Qurban delivered meat packages to those suffering from the attacks of aggressive groups. Global Qurban also worked to comfort the new Muslim converts, reminding us of Allah’s provisions and multiple blessings.
In West Africa, Global Qurban visited Sierra Leone, Mali, Gambia, Nigeria, and Ghana. Lastly, in North Africa, Global Qurban visited Mauritania. These countries still have a number of problems, from violence towards women, racism, famine, and even armed conflicts. These problems make the inhabitants vulnerable and want to seek asylum in other places. In Eid-ul-Adha 2017, Global Qurban tried to alleviate their burden and strengthen their brotherhood amidst problems.
Striving for improvement
Forty countries have been visited by Global Qurban, forty countries from which we learnt about patience and fortitude, forty countries that have helped bolstering Indonesia’s reputation as a generous country. All of this is due to the unending support from the people of Indonesia.
“Since 2011, Global Qurban has become an icon of Muslim solidarity for the world through qurbani. We will continue and improve our service so that the philanthropy of the people of Indonesia, especially the Muslims, can expand and reach more people of various backgrounds,” explained Rini Maryani, President of Global Qurban – Aksi Cepat Tanggap.
In less than two months, Eid-ul-Adha will arrive. Global Qurban team is preparing their best to give the best qurbani services for the people of Indonesia and other countries. This year, Global Qurban will dedicate its service to reach more than 40 countries around the globe, Insha Allah.
