ACTNews, JAKARTA – Eid al-Adha is a moment that Muslims across the globe eagerly wait. The enthusiasm is contagious, spreading from livestock suppliers, qurbani performers, to beneficiaries. Indonesians’ devotion to do qurbani for the sake of Muslims of the world have always been recorded in Global Qurban-Aksi Cepat Tanggap’s long list of good deeds. For six years, GQ-ACT has funneled the trust of the qurbani performers. GQ has reached Indonesia’s outer islands, as well as international communities who still live amidst humanitarian conflict. Besides inviting people to uplift their taqwa, qurbani also grows happiness, from one for all.
Perhaps we are unaware of how the joy of qurbani can unite love, a sense of belonging and a sense of oneness between those who do not know each other. It can be said that this atmosphere is what we always miss, in time of when plurality faces a challenge. With a spirit to unite this nation, this year, Global Qurban promotes a theme “Indonesia Berqurban.”
“Indonesia Berqurban” will invite Indonesian people to unite in universal qurbani joy. According to ACT’s Vice President, Rini Maryani, the “Indonesia Berqurban” movement aims to terminate all disintegration issues that haunt our beloved nation.
“Disintegration threatens our plural country. That’s why, this year GQ carries a theme that revolves around nationality issue in form of ‘Indonesia Berqurban.’ Furthermore, the preparation for Global Quban that goes side by side with Indonesia’s Independence Day (17 August) also adds a reason why we choose the theme,” she explained.
Rini was very optimistic that this programme could unite all stakeholders involved. This way, Indonesia can do so much more and become a greater nation. GQ Programme implementations in various countries have brought along Indonesian flag. This fact reflects that GQ is truly a humanitarian ambassador, from Indonesia to international society.
“ACT’s global programmes, such as Global Qurban and Humanitarian Ship, are always launched on behalf of Indonesia. Our flags would wave in every humanitarian mission,” she affirmed.
Rini revealed, compared to other humanitarian programmes of ACT, GQ programme has the largest scope and target. “Global Qurban programme targets various countries. All the while, Humanitarian Ship programme aims famine-affected regions only by now, such as African countries and Yemen. It means, GQ can unite and ‘pack’ all Indonesians to share their empathy with people around the world. Insha Allah, this programme is rahmatan lil ‘alamin,” she said.
Last year, GQ successfully distributed qurbani livestock across Indonesia and other 31 countries. This year, GQ will deliver the happiness of qurbani to all provinces in Indonesia, and other 40 needy countries and conflict-affected countries.
Every year, Global Qurban Advances
Every year, GQ’s performance constantly shows significant improvement. This development is made possible as Indonesian Muslims’ knowledge and awareness of qurbani keeps evolving. Moreover, qurbani performers who perform qurbani via GQ trust this agency even more, with all its innovation, professionalism and transparency.
Qurbani livestock that GQ distributes also go up in number. In 2012, GQ successfully distributed 2.580 goats. One year after, it was 3.508 goats. The number rose every year, with 5.008 goats in 2014, 10.526 goats in 2015, and 16.574 goats in 2016.
This advancement automatically adds up the number of beneficiaries. In 2012, GQ benefit 129.000 people below poverty line and victims of natural disaster and humanitarian conflict. Meanwhile, last year, GQ benefited 1.442.290 people across the world.
This is Indonesia, with its plural empathy, can deliver qurbani joy across the world. With the same spirit, Insha Allah, this year, one Indonesia can perform its best qurbani to the world.
