ACTNews, JAKARTA – Every year, the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha brings forth the spirit to reach piety and bring happiness for others. The ritual of Qurbani is a moment for Muslims to get closer to their Lord, as well as to strengthen their brotherhood with our fellow Muslims in Indonesia and across the globe. Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim country, constantly shows the multi-facets of the Qurbani ritual as recorded along the eight years of Global Qurban – Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT)’s service.
In 2018, Global Qurban once again enjoin the people of Indonesia to expand the benefits of Qurbani. This year’s spirit is reflected in Global Qurban’s main theme “Indonesia Berqurban: Let Our Nation and the World Enjoy It”.
Indonesia Berqurban (Indonesia’s Qurbani) reflects the spirit of Global Qurban to strengthen the bond of brotherhood of the Indonesians through the Qurbani ritual. This was stated by ACT President Ahyudin during the launch of Indonesia Berqurban program in South Jakarta, Thursday (7/19). This bond of brotherhood will not only benefit Indonesia, but also the world.
He also stated how Qurbani is a mandate from above, and everything that comes from The Greatest is a truth.
“This heavenly energy is what brings us forth to explore, to strive, to continue our steps. If this nation understand Qurbani as something great, something divine that comes from Allah as a means to build life, then this nation’s status will be elevated in front of Allah. Therefore, Qurbani can also be a means for this ummah (community) to energize the spirit of goodness,” Ahyudin stated during the event attended by ustaz Bachtiar Nasir and the Head of Jipang Village Ngadi.
This year’s Qurbani is close to the Independence Day of Indonesia. It is a perfect moment to fortify our nationalism and unity. Last year, the collaborative efforts of Indonesians were able to bring the benefits of Qurbani to to Indonesia’s remote areas as well as conflict-ridden and disaster-hit countries around the world. This year, Ahyudin added, Insha Allah there will be more elements of Indonesian society that will take part in this noble effort.
Last year, Global Qurban visited 250 cities/regencies in 34 provinces throughout Indonesia as well as 40 other underprivileged and conflict-ridden countries. The number of the Qurbani targets will increase this year. In 2018, Global Qurban will bring the Qurbani of the Indonesian society to 250 cities/regencies in 34 provinces throughout Indonesia and 45 other countries across the globe.
Rini Maryani, the president of Global Qurban – ACT explained that the Qurbani distribution areas include the remote areas of Indonesia in which the people are living in poor condition. As for the global Qurbani distribution, more countries are added to the Qurbani target list such as Afghanistan, Senegal, Guinea, Tunisia, Egypt and Maldives.
“We will visit our brothers and sisters across Indonesias, as well as those living in conflict-ridden and impoverished countries such as several countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
She added that Global Qurban has two additional programs in this year’s Qurbani moment. These programs are Qurbani Ship and Qurbani Kitchen. These two programs serve not only to expand the benefits of Qurbani, but also to fortify our unity as a nation.
“Unity can manifest in many shapes and forms. Through The Qurbani Ship, for instance, we shall transport Qurbani animals from livestock-producing areas in Indonesia to the areas with less number of livestock animals. Therefore, their need for the sacrificial animals can be fulfilled. The Qurbani Ship will bring sacrificial animals from Sumbawa to Java (including Jakarta), as well as from Seram Island to Papua. Our national brotherhood is as vast, like the coverage areas of the Qurbani Ship,” Maryani explained.
Another program to fortify our unity is the Qurbani Kitchen. This moment is a feast in which people can savor the Qurbani meat. It helps the people to truly celebrate togetherness in Eid-ul-Adha, including those who have nothing to eat except the Qurbani meat itself.
The Qurbani Kitchen will bring benefits to underprivileged areas in Jakarta and 15 other Indonesian big cities.
“Insha Allah, this year’s Qurbani will bring happiness to all elements in our society, from the wealthy to the needy, from Indonesians to people of other nations. Eid-ul-Adha unites us as Muslims. It is truly a moment to celebrate for Muslims, with their sense of togetherness that transcends geographical boundaries,” Maryani concluded.
